People are generally more happy when they have meaning in their lives, and part of living a meaningful life is having a feeling of making a difference in the world’ (By Elizabeth Scott, M.S., About.com Guide Updated May 17, 2011). Have you ever thought that your home loan could do more than be a constant expense for the next 30 years of your life? Have you ever wanted to be able to do more for the world, but don’t have the time or extra money to help out?
With all of the Worlds disasters occurring, being the quick impact (New Zealand Earthquake, Queensland Floods, Japan Tsunami, etc) and the slow climate change issues such as what is happening in Africa at the moment, I don’t know about you, but I am finding it overwhelming and hard to see where you will be able to help with so much going on?! Due to the progression of telecommunications and the news being able to be beamed live into our living rooms within hours of such disasters happening, the feeling of ‘oh well, we don’t see it so we can ignore it!’ just can’t happen. I am always thinking of my family, and them ever being in a similar situation and having to run for their lives and then being left with nothing and needing aid and this is really stressful and can leave you feeling like there is nothing that you can do but worry every time you see these awful things happening.
Thinking about my home loan being able to do such things as fund aid to Africa, or help sick kids with funding for cures, or even just putting food into their mouths, right down to helping those lovely animals that need homes for Christmas, gives me that feeling of awesomeness that I can help, and it isn’t hard, and I don’t need to ignore what is happening in the world, because I am making a difference!
